“Peace!” At Any $Price$?!

“Friday’s child is loving and giving…”

  First–The “Fab 4”–of course!     {On “Shindig”, no less! “}

   Here is it nearly the last we’ll ever see of 2016, and for some reason, in spite of how tough this year has been on most of us, thanks in large part to the endless campaigning done for this presidential election, I honestly think I’m going to miss the old year for some reason.  I just wish I knew why.

   The thing is that, I think quite a few of us can hardly wait to waive bye-bye to 2016, for said reason, and that’s understandable.  Very.  This year I felt as though everything I did to get ready for Christmas was literally being done for the last time.  As though this Christmas would be the last I’d see–not that it would be the end for the entire human race, though.  I was so happy just to be baking cookies, and making that terrific Danish Christmas bread, that I still feel so fortunate to have found the recipe for in an old cookbook I found a few years ago!  I also made orange flavored sugar cookies, the kind you cut shapes from, and decorate, and it had been maybe 3 or more decades since I tried my hand at making them–baking cookies is not something I have ever liked doing–until this Christmas!  I still have cookie cutters I purchased right after getting married, nearly 45 years or more ago–it was fun to get them out and finally use them again!   Even if it did feel strangely like I’d better make the best of it all, since I felt as though the ‘finish line’ was looming up in front of me–but, I didn’t feel afraid, just calm, and happy, instead.

   I seem to have a million words to type when commenting about things on Facebook, or Youtube, etc., but right now I seem to have run dry, with nothing of import to speak about, even though the whole world seems ready to bust wide open over absolutely nothing of any consequence.  Everyone seems ready to lower the boom on everyone else, yet they have no genuine reason for wanting to do so, let alone doing so!  People’s hatred for one another, without a cause, seems to be taking over their hearts, and filling their minds with nothing but the destruction of their fellow man/woman.  Yet, they continue giving lip service to “Peace!”, “Peace!”–it’s ridiculous–they actually have no clue as to what they mean by “Peace!”–they believe it simply means people will stop hating each other, and begin being capable of living peaceably side-by-side, with no more strife taking place anywhere on earth.  That’s a lovely thought.  I believe the slang term for that is, “pipe dream”,  but the problem is they have no clue as to how to achieve that laudable goal.

   It seems as though most people believe they can legislate “Peace!” into existence if they pass enough laws, and begin shaming others into obedience of their wish for “Peace!”.  Unfortunately, that never works out the way they think it will.  Instead, all it does is breed more strife, and conflict!  In fact, because they don’t ‘get it’, they also end up trying to achieve this “Peace!” at ANY price, and that is immoral to the max!  It’s shameful, because it means that they’ll do anything to reach the goal of “Peace!”, yet what they would end up achieving is the bankruptcy of their own souls.

   On top of that, what seems to happen next, that goes right along with “Peace at any price!”, is an irrational hatred of conflict of any kind, including for self-defense.   Yet when the lives of innocent people, are at stake, by refusing to recognize the very method needed to be employed in order to save those lives, they run the very real risk of having those lives snuffed out, or worse–enslaved.  If we lived in a perfect world right now, achieving that longed-for “Peace!” would be easy, since people would not be sinners.  However, that’s not reality right now.  Right now, we need to deal with what’s real, not what we wish was real.  Unfortunately, it appears that far too many people these days actually do fall into that unflattering category called, “Snowflakes”.  Being a “Snowflake” would be fine if this world was filled with fellow “Snowflakes”, but it isn’t.  Instead, it’s also filled with people who resemble the devil    in their hearts   , far more than they resemble the angelic hosts of God!

   Because of that fact, I believe what I see as being in our near-future is more of that detested conflict that most of us wish never existed this side of heaven.  Plus, we’ve been so busy living in our own little bubbles, pursuing our own wants and desires, we forgot to keep our eyes open for those who hate us without a good cause, and who only wish us harm.  At this point I’m almost fearing that we’ve allowed too many ‘horses’ out of the barn before trying to close the barn door, for it to be possible for us to prevent all out war in just about every corner of the earth.  The reason is not because they outnumber us–no!  It’s because we have allowed them to weasel into positions of authority over us.  We’ve allowed them to obtain that power over us, and now they seem bent on using that power to try pushing various countries around the world into warring with one another!    They are heartless creatures who couldn’t care less about us, and who truly just want us gone, so they can do as they please–if they don’t end up killing one another off, after they’ve rid themselves of us!

   Well, I say we stop them!  I say we resist their attempts at pushing this entire world into a global conflict that would make the American Civil war, WW I, WW II, Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan/Iraq, etc., look like a ‘Sunday picnic’ in Central Park!  We do have a “5th Column” in this country, as do most other countries by this time.  They are a group of those who are not loyal to the countries they inhabit, but to an ideal that spells death and destruction for anyone who would stand in the way of their obtaining that ideal.  They are those who only pretend to love, and wish to protect, the country and it’s people.  A “5th Column” is also the one thing no country can survive, unless it is rooted out, and quashed.

      The reason for that is best given by the ancient Roman named Cicero:

“    A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious   . But it cannot survive treason    from within.

      An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly.

     But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.

      For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men.

     He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist.

     A murderer is less to fear.”

Marcus Tullius Cicero

     I guess, in conclusion, I’ll simply say this about that:  unless we begin to realize just what we are up against, there is no way we can stop them, let alone reverse the damage they’ve already done to us, and to our country/countries.  And, the answer is contained within the words to this Psalm from the Holy Bible, by King David:

Psalm 67

1 *****God be merciful unto us, and bless us;
and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.

That thy way may be known upon earth,
thy saving health among all nations.*****

Let the people praise thee, O God;
let all the people praise thee.

O let the nations be glad and sing for joy:
for thou shalt judge the people righteously,
and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.

Let the people praise thee, O God;
let all the people praise thee.

*****6 Then shall the earth yield her increase;
and God, even our own God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us;
and all the ends of the earth shall fear him*****                                                                         {Psalm 67}{all emphasis, mine}

   Oh, Paulie, I certainly hope and pray you’re right, and we can work it all out before it’s too late.{Amen}

  1. Without war, how would we ever know peace? Without evil- how would we recognize good? For one to exist- is dependent on the other’s survival.
    Thank you for your words here- it is important for us to remember that individually, we can make a difference. Even if it is simply a difference withion ourselves. There is enough hate in the world already- let’s not add to it! “Life is very short- and there’s no time for fussing and fighting my friends”

    1. Thank you for your reply to this blog entry–I said this in the body of what I wrote in it:
      “If we lived in a perfect world right now, achieving that longed-for “Peace!” would be easy, since people would not be sinners. However, that’s not reality right now. Right now, we need to deal with what’s real, not what we wish was real. ”
      So, yes, I see that war is something that we can’t avoid at times, due to the aggression of others who would enslave us, and if they can’t do that, then they will try and kill us–not problem with how I view that! I simply do not wish for people to seek Peace-at-any-Price–they usually end up selling their souls in exchange for that so-called “peace”, and the ones they sell it to will more than likely simply turn around and kill them anyway–some people in this world honestly do not want peace at all. Instead, they want to practice tyranny over the rest of us, and that’s what makes our going to war necessary at times.

      I left a reply over on your blog the other day–I haven’t checked yet to see if you replied to what I said on the subject of Paul, etc. I hope it didn’t offend you in any way, but it is how I’ve come to view what happened to the Beatles, and especially to Paul, pre-1966. Thanks, again.

      1. Not offended in the slightest!! Thank you so much for your thoughts, I appreciate perspective and thought. You have obviously put a lot of thought into the Beatles/Paul etc. You are in no way alone in those thoughts either. Here’s to truth!!
